<p>Imagine going for a walk in the woods and you pick up some twigs and dry leaves. Then let’s pretend you boil that in hot water. That’s what butterfly pea flower tastes like. </p>
<p>Lemonade or lemons taste the best with butterfly pea flower tea. The brightness from the lemons work well to mask the muskiness from the tea. </p>
<h2>What You’ll Need </h2>

<li><strong><a href="https://amzn.to/2PQGea2" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Filtered water</a></strong></li>
<li><a href="https://amzn.to/338DkU3" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><strong>Vanilla extract</strong></a></li>
<li><a href="https://amzn.to/32H5ZiC" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><strong>Sweetened condensed milk</strong></a></li>
<li><a href="https://amzn.to/38xPYOR" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><strong>Half & half</strong></a></li>
<li><a href="https://amzn.to/2l900Sy" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><strong>Ice cubes</strong></a></li>
<li><strong><a href="https://amzn.to/2QXOkB2" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Glass teapot with strainer</a><br/></strong>An easy way to brew tea easily.</li>
<li><strong><a href="https://amzn.to/2p03AgN" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Gooseneck electric kettle</a></strong><br/>A must for all tea drinkers. I never heat water on the stove anymore for tea.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>STEP 1: Boil water.</strong></p>
<p>Boil water on the stovetop or using an<span> </span><b><strong><a href="https://amzn.to/2p03AgN" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">electric kettle with a temperature setting.</a><span> </span></strong></b>If using an electric kettle, set the water to 190ºF.</p>
<p>The recommended water temperature is 212ºF but I steep it at 190ºF so I can cool it quicker for this iced drink.</p>
<p><strong>STEP 2: Put tea bags into teapot and add hot water and steep for 5 minutes.</strong></p>
<p>Let cool.</p>
<p><strong>STEP 3: Combine half & half, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract.</strong></p>
<p>Stir to mix. Set aside.</p>
<p><strong>STEP 4: Pour cooled butterfly pea flower tea into 2 cups of ice.</strong></p>
<p><strong>STEP 5: Slowly pour in half & half mixture into each cup.</strong></p>
<p><strong><span>The trick to getting the swirls is to use half & half and make sure the cup is filled with ice.</span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span>Milk is too liquid-y and not as thick so it just goes straight to the bottom without creating pretty swirls.</span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span>The half & half will settle to the bottom leaving a very pretty gradient then turn the drink to a Tiffany blue color.</span></strong></p>
