I agree entirely with you Pan! AVEN does ignore those, and it should be brought to light. Maybe you should post a discussion about this on the AVEN website. Let me know what you think.

I have always felt that AVEN tends to ignore two things that I feel are rather important in the explanation of sexuality and romanticism in general. The first is that how we identify with our bodies and our gender informs our sexuality and ability to express ourselves with both. For instance, I am Agender. My body has always felt like a house to me. Just something that 'I', that is to say the part that makes up who I am, live in. Sometimes I decorate it differently according to how I feel or…

Sometimes I decorate it differently according to how I feel or I use it as a tool to interact with the world around me and expressing myself, but otherwise the relationship between my body and my gender informs my sexuality. As a Demisexual it generally tends to mean that its just a tool for expressing love, intimacy, and trust. A way of connecting with others who 'do' express themselves in that way and need or desire to have that affirmed. The second thing I feel AVEN tends to ignore is that there are many other forms of attraction than simply sexual or romantic attractions. For instance, there is aesthetic attraction, emotional attraction, intellectual attraction. All of which tend to be put on the back burner as part of how an Ace/Aro person may experience attraction either through the sexuality, or their sexuality through their attractions.
Yes, I agree with all those p…tag:templeilluminatus.ning.com,2020-04-06:6363372:Comment:35126312020-04-06T18:12:31.423ZSwami.
Hi Kat! On the website, it talks about that, and so I'll give you the short version. Asexuality is both, it's an orientation and an identity, such as in the case of abuse which let to sex repulsion.

It's also an orientation such as being gay. Both are legitimate and there are many many forms of asexuality. You'll be amazed lol.

I just am curious about one thing - and I see there are several pages of comments and dialogue but is asexuality something you are born with such as being gay or can you change over time? Is it possible that if you started one way and then changed it's possibly because you've experienced something (or someone) who has tainted your opinions on sex? In other words could it be psychological?

I think a lot of us could fit into many different categories, we just choose not to be boxed in. That's the way I see it. Just like my spiritual practice is not defined by one label or box. Being boxed in with titles just seems very limiting and boring in my mind.

I agree with Tami. I've always known you were Heteroflexible dear Marcie lol. Way ahead of you lol. Even though I'm asexual, I'm under the umbrella term of pansexual as well.
