The fair and lovely Rose Quartz, with its gentle pink essence, is a stone of the heart, a Crystal of Unconditional Love. It carries a soft feminine energy of compassion and peace, tenderness and healing, nourishment and comfort. It speaks directly to the Heart Chakra, dissolving emotional wounds, fears and resentments, and circulates a Divine loving energy throughout the entire aura. Reawakening the heart to its own innate love, it provides a deep sense of personal fulfillment and contentment, allowing one the capacity to truly give and receive love from others. [Raphaell, 82-85][Simmons, 331][Hall, 236]

Called the Heart Stone, Rose Quartz may have been used as a love token as early as 600 B.C. and is still an important talisman of relationships. It is quite effective in attracting new love, romance and intimacy, or in developing a closer bond with family or friends. It supports connection within groups and community, and carries a high spiritual attunement to the Earth, Universe, and the Divine. [Eason, 50][Simmons, 331][Hall, 236]

Rose Quartz also inspires the love of beauty, in oneself and others, in nature, and especially that which stimulates the imagination - art, music and the written word. [Melody, 570] Prized in the ancient world for its powers of physical beautification, facial masks of Rose Quartz have been recovered from Egyptian tombs, thought by the Egyptians and Romans to clear the complexion and prevent wrinkles. It was also a stone honored by the Tibetan and Oriental cultures, and continues to be one of the major carving stones of China. [Mella, 97]

A silicon dioxide crystal, Rose Quartz is one of the most common varieties of the Quartz family. It is found in abundance around the world and occurs only in massive form, with no crystal faces, edges or terminations. It is hazy to translucent, and is usually found in the cores of granite pegmatites. Its name is derived from its soft rose color, which ranges from very pale pink to deep reddish-pink and is due to trace amounts of titanium, iron, or manganese in the massive material. It also contains microscopic fiber inclusions of rutile or a borosilicate similar to dumortierite that can occasionally produce a cat’s eye or “star” effect when polished into cabochons or spheres. The color of Rose Quartz is very stable and will not fade with heat or direct sunlight. [www.mindat.org][en.wikipedia.org][www.quartzpage.de][celestialearthminerals.com]

Rose Quartz is also called Pink Quartz or Hyaline Quartz, from the Greek hyalos, meaning “glass,” and was referred to in antiquity as a Bohemian or Silesian Ruby. [Megemont, 157][Fernie, 179] It was thought for years Rose Quartz, in rare cases, also formed in clusters of small prismatic crystals that were labeled as Crystalline Rose Quartz. However, mineralogists in the 1990’s discovered distinct differences between common Rose Quartz and the rare crystalline specimens, and proposed the massive form still be denoted as Rose Quartz, while the crystal variety should be referred to as Pink Quartz. It is a confusion that is slowly being resolved. [www.mindat.org][en.wikipedia.org][www.quartzpage.de][celestialearthminerals.com] See the Pink Quartz page for more information.

Rose Quartz Uses and Purposes - Overview

Rose Quartz is a mothering crystal, inspiring nurturing of the self if one has lost their own mother. It promotes bonding and is a good stone to place on the stomach during pregnancy, and to take to the hospital to be near the baby during birth. It is also soothing in the days to follow. [Eason, 50] Placing baby milk or food within a circle of Rose Quartz for a few minutes helps ease colic or feeding difficulties. [Eason, 40]

To call in love or strengthen a romantic relationship, place pink roses and twin Rose Quartz hearts on a private love altar and light pink candles, or enclose a photo of yourself and a lover within a heart shape of tiny Rose Quartz crystals. [Eason, 50] Rose Quartz may also be placed by the bed or in the relationship corner of the home to restore trust and harmony, and encourage unconditional love. [Hall, 236]

As a stone of love, tenderness and sensuality, Rose Quartz is a powerful aphrodisiac, stimulating sensual imagination. [Megemont, 158]

Rose Quartz is a wonderful sleep crystal for adults and children, providing beautiful dreams as well as preventing nightmares or night terrors. It also helps children to not be afraid of the dark. [Eason, 50]

Rose Quartz is a calming and reassuring crystal, excellent for use in trauma or crisis, including the emotional upheaval of mid-life crisis. It strengthens empathy, sensitivity, and aids in the acceptance of necessary change. It is also an excellent stone for comforting grief. [Hall, 236]

A large piece of unpolished Rose Quartz in the workplace provides ongoing protection against intrusion and gossip. [Eason, 50] It is also a professional support stone for beauty consultants. [Mella, 130]

Rose Quartz Physical Healing Energy

Rose Quartz may be used to sooth burns and reduce blistering if rubbed lightly with a polished stone or used as an elixir. It may also be beneficial in diminishing the appearance of unsightly scars. Use as an elixir to clear the skin, reduce wrinkles and promote a soft complexion. [Megemont, 158][Melody, 571][Hall, 236]

Rose Quartz stimulates the proper functioning of the heart and circulatory system. It aids in relieving tension and stress, palpitations or skipped beats, and may stabilize irregular heart rhythm. It is ideal for premature babies or young children with heart weakness or disease, or anyone who needs a stronger, more stable heart. [Ahsian, 332][Melody, 571][Hall, 236][Gienger, 74]

This stone is used to clear fluids in the cells of the body and promote the release of impurities. It assists in healing the kidneys and adrenals, and placed on the thymus aids chest and lung problems, relieving coughs and soothing bronchial areas. It has also been used in treating vertigo.[Melody, 571][Hall, 236]

Rose Quartz is especially supportive of the female reproductive system, the genitals and for increase in fertility. It assists in alleviating sexual difficulties, post-partum depression, and is thought to help mothers heal after complicated births. [Eason, 50][Geinger, 74][Hall, 236]

Rose Quartz Emotional Healing Energy

The soft pink emanations of Rose Quartz comforts and heals any wounds the heart has suffered, penetrating the inner chambers of the Heart Chakra where emotional experiences are recorded and stored. It dissolves the sorrows, worries, fears and resentments suppressing the heart's ability to give and receive love, and replaces it with healing, comfort and inner nourishment. A deep sense of personal fulfillment and energy forms a new foundation where inner peace and contentment can become a personal reality. [Raphaell, 82-83]

Rose Quartz is also a stone for those unable to experience the joy of living because of never having had love given to them, possibly missing the love and nurturing as a child that is vital for the development of security and a positive self image. Rose Quartz is the healer for these internal wounds, erasing the primal imprints and reprogramming the heart to accept the infinite source of love that comes from within the self. Only after learning to give love to the self is it possible to truly love others. [Raphaell, 82-83, 85]

Rose Quartz Chakra Healing and Balancing Energy

Pink Rose Quartz is the most important crystal of the heart and the Heart Chakra, teaching the true essence of love, and purifying and opening the heart at all levels. [Hall, 235]

The Heart Chakra is located near the center of the breastbone and regulates our interaction with the external world and controls what we embrace and what we resist. It gives us the balancing ability to be ourselves within the environment, and helps us in understanding our own needs and emotions clearly. We can deal with the ebbs and flows of emotional relationships, understand their cyclic nature, and accept the changes.

Rose Quartz also balances the yin-yang energy, and can bring all the other chakras into harmony and unity with the Heart. With the power of its light red rays, Rose Quartz gently stimulates the Base Chakra to help rejuvenate the physical body.

Located at the base of the spine, the Base Chakra controls the energy for kinesthetic feeling and movement. It is the foundation of physical and spiritual energy for the body. When it is in balance, the physical body gains strength and spiritual energy is rekindled in the form of security and sense of one's own power.

Rose Quartz Spiritual Energy

Rose Quartz is feminine in tone and one of the stones of the Great Mother. It not only activates the human Heart Chakra, it also links with the heart of the Earth and the heart of the Universe.

Its vibrations can penetrate down to the cellular level and reprogram cells for joy and longevity rather than despair and death. It encourages the dissolution of anger and resentment, fear and suspicion, and brings the Light of healing, the rebirth of hope and faith in the benevolence of the Universe. [Simmons, 331]

Rose Quartz Color Energy

Light red, or Pink Rose Quartz brings the energy rays of determination, commitment, and caring. Its soothing color calms feelings of anger or resentment, and can aid efforts to meditate and reflect. Pink is the color of new love, new romance and new relationships. It increases developing sensuality, and can help overcome heartache, aiding in the improvement of our caring and loving abilities.

Meditation with Rose Quartz

Meditating with Rose Quartz assists one in reaching a resonance with the frequency of compassion, releasing emotional patterns that hold one back, and allows for embracing higher and finer frequencies of Light. [Ahsian, 332]

Rose Quartz is a common meditation stone used by women. It aids in efforts to understand and foster loving relationships and to bring a gentle energy to one's day.

Rose Quartz Divination

The Divinatory meaning of Rose Quartz: Forgive yourself for past mistakes and do not accept the blame others try to offload for their inadequacies. [Eason, 50]

Rose Quartz Goddess Crystals

Rose Quartz honors Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of Love and Beauty (also called Venus, the Roman Goddess of Love). She was one of twelve Olympians who governed all aspects of human life, and is known for her beauty and passion.

Rose Quartz honors Astarte, the Phoenician Goddess of Fertility, Love and War. She is known in many cultures by different names and is said to be the Queen of the Stars. She helps with troubled love, and keeps lovers faithful to each other.

Rose Quartz also honors Turan, the Etruscan Goddess of Love and Beauty.

Birthstones

There are several ways to find an appropriate birthstone. The traditional one is listed first. These are from the popular lists that most people are familiar with. The second way is to find your natural birthstone by the color wheel of life. You can click on the Natural Birthstone graphic below to learn more. Finally many people use the traditional stones of the Zodiac.

In this section you will find information on all three approaches.

Rose Quartz Traditional Birthstone

Rose Quartz is not a traditional birthstone

Rose Quartz Natural Birthstone.

Rose Quartz, with its light red color, is one of the natural birthstones of those born in mid-autumn (October 22 - November 20). Red crystals bring you energy, courage, passion, and love.

Rose Quartz - Zodiac Stone of Scorpio

Rose Quartz is one of the zodiac stones for those born under the sign of Scorpio, at the end of harvest, from October 23 - November 21. Scorpio is represented by a scorpion, and is known as the Success sign. Scorpios are complicated, independent, and creative with a sense of humor. They are excellent leaders and sometimes a bit competitive.

Rose Quartz is also said to strengthen the romantic ardor of Taurus and Libra's determination. [Megemont, 158]

Rose Quartz Amulets and Talismans

Rose Quartz is a Seeker Transformer crystal. Seekers contain a crystal energy structure that aligns the natural energy of the crystal to the natural power of the human mind to find the way to new horizons and new capabilities. They're pointers, directors, and compasses; the fresh start crystals. These are talismans of the scientist, the adventurer, the hunter, wanderer, and explorer. They're also crystals of the student and the researcher.

Transformer crystals enhance efforts to change our situations, prospects, health, outlook or relationships. By transforming ourselves we transform our lives. We learn to dance, speak a new language, grow stronger, or become a better spouse or child. Seeker crystals with the earth power of the Transformer are excellent talismans to aid our efforts to grow, develop new capabilities and change our lives.

Rose Quartz Feng Shui

Rose Quartz utilizes a subdued Fire energy. Fire energy is the energy of enthusiasm, warmth, brightness, illumination and activity. It is the energy of heat, action, emotion and passion - of ideas, of concepts, and sex. It is traditionally associated with the south area of a home or room, and with the fame and reputation area of your dwelling. Use its energy to give your life the boost it needs to enhance your standing in the community and within your family.

Rose Quartz in Ancient Lore and Legend

Legend claims Rose Quartz was created when Adonis, lover of the Greek (and Roman) goddess Aphrodite, was attacked by Ares, god of war, in the form of a boar. When Aphrodite rushed to save him she caught herself on a briar bush, and their mingled blood stained the white Quartz pink. [Eason, 50]

Once used for beautification, facial masks of Rose Quartz have been found in the tombs of ancient Egypt. The Romans and Egyptians believed Rose Quartz would clear and encourage a beautiful complexion, and prevent wrinkles. It was a stone honored by the Tibetan and Oriental cultures, and is still one of the major carving stones used in China. [Mella, 97] Known as the Heart Stone, Rose Quartz may have been used as a love token as early as 600 B.C. [Eason, 50]

In antiquity Rose Quartz was also called the Bohemian, or Silesian Ruby, and was believed to fade in the light and only be restored to its original color by being placed in the damp. [Fernie, 179]

Australian sorcerers make a powerful sacred water out of this stone that they call liquefied Quartz and consider to be a panacea. [Megemont, 158]

As an effective detoxification agent, Rose Quartz was long considered a universal antidote to poison. [Megemont, 158]

Thanks for the invite, SunKat, I have not read the article yet, but I will. I, myself have a lot of Rose quartz, and I used to sell them in a holistic center that I had in North Carolina, most people associated them with love.

They were very appreciated there.

But this seems to have a lot of meat in it. So, I, for sure, will read it and then comment, after it.

I read it all now, and it is fantastic. It includes so many things.

A lot of info here. Thanks, Gyhldeptis!
