Excuse my ignorance, but what are the RSS feeds and what are they for?

Linda,

That is a normal question and I just learned it myself. OK, this is the rss icon (picture) feed. If you are on a website and see the icon (below), click on it and it will take you to a link that looks crazy-Ill show on in the next comment.

The rss feed icon:

The are usually located beside the fb, twitter, google icons that you click on to share something from a website to fb or whatever.

Here is a definition of what an rss feed is:

1. RSS (Rich Site Summary); originally RDF Site Summary; often called Really Simple Syndication, uses a family of standard web feed formats to publish frequently updated information: blog entries, news headlines, audio, video.

2. RSS - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

   Simply: it ties the latest news from one website to another. 

   Now-

   If you go to one of your groups to the admin options and oen up "Edit Group"

     once you see the choices for the group setting there is one option to add rss feed. If you checkmark that box, the rss feed will be found under the groups discussion board, but before general comments on they groups Main Page.

   If you look at the group I manage you will see rss feed from other websites. 

   Go to the Hall of Great Works Group and the rss feed I have uploaded today is TI's Featured Members.

   Tomorrow I will upload TI's discussions and the most recents ones will show.

   I had to play around with them and I knew TI had rss feed but there is no main rss for the main page or main activity.

   The simplest thing is to know it joins one website to another with information.

   In the next comment I will copy paste on of TI actual rss feed pages.

   To get the rss link into your group you go to the browser and copy/paste it to the place in the group in the rss edit.

   The links above in the discussion is what you would copy paste into the rss feed that you want to group you want it to go:

Well it did not copy paste-in terms of being able show you the actual edit to place the rss feed

You just have to open it up and in the Title you put the name of the website and in the URL line you copy paste the rss link from the website -like the ones I showed in the discussion.

In the next comment I will copy/paste and actual feed webpage-LOL-you don't copy that but at least you will know what it looks like.

Maybe copy paste the TI video link in the discussion and put it into your music group rss feed (you may have to add it.

Play around and it is simpler than it sounds!

If I can do-anyone can!!

Anyway- you only copy/paste the browser for a page like the comment above. The rss link above is:

http://www.templeilluminatus.com/forum?feed=yes&xn_auth=no

And that is what is in the Hall of Great Works in the rss feed.

Thanks, I'll play around with it soon....So I could link any music groups, dancing, song etc with the rss link?

No rss icon--no rss link.
