I wanted to touch on keeping journals a bit more than my passing remarks on my previous posts.  The reason why I wish you to keep a journal is to keep track of your progress and discoveries.  If you are like me in the beginning, I felt keeping a journal was a daunting task, that I needed to write a full page every day in order for it to be a complete entry.  Or even that keeping a journal is akin to an academic lesson.  I want to dispel that myth for you right now and explain to you what your journal should be about and what should go in it.

Every person develops in their own way and at their own speed.  There is no right or wrong way to keep a journal.  Some people are drawn to writing a story each day and other people it might be easier to just jot down notes.  That is just it.  Even though I will give exercises to practice on, it is to be accomplished at your own rate that are designed to help you discover what works best for you.  My exercises are only guidelines and not always step by step directions.

Your journal can be private.  Written down in a notebook or on your own word file.  They do not have to be shared on a public forum such as this if you don't wish.  There are advantages of sharing  your journey in this group because you can get instant feedback from other peers working on the same discoveries.  If you have troubles, suggestions can be given to help you when you post it.  Even if you don't wish to share your journal publicly, you can always still post for help in areas you are struggling in and we can help offer ideas to help.

What should go into your journal?

The date events happen to you.  This always gives you a reference point in how you are developing as you move along your journey.

You don't have to write a book for every entry.  Just a few sentences will do.  For example: Today I began working on my relaxation techniques.  I didn't think it would work but Basic Meditation did the trick.  Or... Tried Meditation today.  I couldn't get myself to relax enough.  Try again later.  Simple things like that.  They don't have to be large entries.  Just enough to start you on your journey.

Here is my example of what I would write in my journal:

7/15/11  Had an interesting thing happen today.  One of my shows was cancelled, but for some reason 2 hours after I was told, I sent a message saying "Did our shows move?"  My co-worker replied.  "Yes we are this venue now."  Apparently I had a premonition and acted upon it.

It wasn't a big entry but gave just enough information.  And after a while with your entries you begin to see patterns emerging.  They will help you identify your natural gifts.  Often my entries are filled with.. I heard this today __ details of what I heard__  which after a while lets me know that I'm predominantly clairaudient.   Another nice thing about writing down what happens when it happens is that often times.. what I hear I can refer back to it in the future when something happens relating to it.  It also has been great for me, because often when I hear a voice explaining something to me.  I can forget it when the voice finally leaves.  So writing it down helps me remember.

Keeping a dream journal is also the same.  JT Courtney (I hope you don't mind me using your experience as an example)  told us about how keeping a dream journal has helped him.  Sometimes our dreams are premonitions and they don't come into fruition until much later.  If you have kept a journal you can look through them to discover when you had that dream.  Which often even sheds even more light on the situation than you may have initially thought.  All by going back and reviewing your dream journal.

So I hope I shed away some anxiety about keeping a journal.  It's not about writing a detailed account of your days but to highlight those moments when something happens or occurs to you.  It should also be used to gauge how you thought you did on the exercises.  How you keep a journal is actually up to you on how you wish to keep one.  It can be private or public.  You can even just blog but the key is to write it down so that you can refer to it later.

Many Hugs
