Ivan Shishkin was a 19th-century Russian artist who excelled at creating beautiful paintings of woodland scenes. These paintings are typically so photorealistic that it's often hard to believe that you're actually looking at a painting, and not simply a photograph. Whenever I feel like escaping from my hectic world for a little while, one little look at these paintings is all it takes to completely refresh my mind.

Below, you'll find 20 of Shishkin's most spectacular paintings. Enjoy!

WOW!!  A few I can tell are paintings, but most of them, you have to do a double take.  I love the last one with the queen anne's lace, that that one with the bench sitting in among the bushes. Bench At The Mall, that was it.

here is the kink that goes with the discussion.

WOW, the paintings and pictures are absolutely beautiful. Thank you for posting them.

You are welcome, Mystic Wolf.

And yes, Linda, some of them may be recognized as paintings, but most can fool you.

The paintings are so good that it is hard to distinguish between a picture and a painting. It is great to have a photogenic memory so you recall every detail. I wish I had that.

I had that kind of a memory as a child and way into my thirties.

And I also painted, but not nature, but peoples" faces  and other things of interest to me.

But I wish I had not given it up and that I could do these kind of things...

Well, at least, we can enjoy them, though..

With my drawings, I go inward with my meditations and come out with who I am. In a way it is like doing automatic writing. So instead of doing this I allow my thoughts, emotions, and often pain in my drawings. When I do drawings for clients I get something from this person, hold it, and pull their vibration from this item, and create their own drawing that depicts who they are. I like it and it is very interesting to do.

Oh, yes, indeed, very interesting, I can see that. They speak to me, also.
