A New Jersey township is being plagued by mysterious music keeping residents up at night.
When most are fast asleep, music suddenly fills the air and no one has a clue where it's coming from. Police have been inundated with 911 calls regarding the melody, but have so far been unable to determine its source.
Some locals speculated to Inside Edition that they believe it is coming across the river from Delaware. But Pennsville Township Police Chief Allen Cummings has spent months trying to track down the culprit or culprits and hasn't had any luck.
“The police department have rode around not finding anything,” he told Inside Edition. “We've had the Coast Guard out trying to find it on the river. No luck.”
Another theory is that it is a bunch of car stereo fanatics showing off their powerful speakers.
The mystery joins a list of ghostly sounds in suburban areas around the world.
In recent years, there have been reported incidents of a high-pitched wail in British Columbia, an eerie whine in a town in Finland and a creepy nursery rhyme being sung in England.
