At night as I'm lying down to sleep i lay flat on my back closing my eyes just enough to where I can see the tip of my nose. I put the tip of my tongue against my pallet and begin to breath mindfully, aware of my breathing I take in my surroundings and I am mindful that I'm still awake. I am mindful of my entire body. So what makes this meditation so important for me is that I begin to replay the day backwards in my mind. This helps me to realize the times that I was consciously aware and the times I was consciously asleep as I can find the times I don't remember part of my day. I play the day backwards from the time I'm lying down to the time I woke up that morning and in doing so I become aware of more of my day with each practice. This technique helps me to focus throughout my day and become my attuned to what is happening around me. I feel that this is a very important technique of meditation and I just feel the need to share it with anyone who is serious about practicing meditation.
