Mom and Constant Comment Tea, to this very day, whenever I buy a package of this wonderfully smelling, and tasting tea, I think of my mom.
Back in those days, you could still buy this as loose tea. I've tried to find it now, it isn't easy. When we both needed a break, we'd get out the teapot and make a big pot of tea to split.
We'd put on the kettle and 'hot' the pot. that meant we'd fill the pot with hot water, while the tea water was boiling. When the water was done, we'd pour the water out of the pot, and measure out the Constant Comment. As I type this, I can almost smell it, again. We'd pour in the water, put the top on, and use a tea towel to cover it with. We had no cozy.
We'd go out on the back porch(mom had a very wide screened in back porch)prop up our feet, and pour. No tea ball, so we used a small strainer to pour the tea through. Then we'd just sit back and relax for a half hour or so. Sometimes we'd talk, sometimes, read, or just listen to the birds, and watch the flowers grow in mom's garden.
It was a pleasant way to relax for a bit.
Lovely memories to treasure Linda ♡
Elspeth, to this day I can't have a cup of Constant Comment tea without thinking of my mom. that reminds me, I'm down to 6 bags. I need to buy more.
If you go to Bigalow, online you can buy the tin of it. I bought some for Kyst and me last year.
