Carl Jung's The Red Book

A small introduction to Carl Jung's famous Red Book. Under the following quotation from The Red Book is a short video about the book as well as the link to a free and complete 200MB download of the original text and art of The Red Book.

Written on the back of the painting Untitled work, 1917, within The Red Book, Liber Novus, is the following inscription ( pp 320-1):

"The Cabiri: We hauled things up, we built. We placed stone upon stone. Now, you stand upon solid ground...We forged a flashing sword for you, with which you can cut the knot that entangles you...We also place before you the devilish, skillfully twined knot that locks and seals you. Strike, only sharpness will cut through it...Do not hesitate. We need destruction since we ourselves are the entanglement. He who wishes to conquer new land brings down the bridges behind him. Let us not exist anymore. We are the thousand canals in which everything flows back into it's origin."

If the images, words and video that give you a taste of The Red Book entice you, rest assured that the rest of the book is just as interesting. Available from W. W. Norton and Company. A free full color copy of Carl Jung's The Red Book is available here.

Most welcome. :) *hugs*
Glad you're enjoying it. :)

Wow! I almost bought a copy of this on the way back from holiday (we stopped in Glastonbury and it was on sale). Glad I didn't now... 'twas still rather expensive.

A HUGE thank-you to Leila!

glad it's being so widely accessed. There are so many great works available for free online now in many different forms. It's wonderful to have that accessibility. It's like a global electric library. *smile*

i remember studying jung and freud and many others in my psychology class. i remember i liked jung ideas better than freud thought freud was too ridgid lol
