"We all write poems; it is simply that poets are the ones who write in words"
----- John Fowles
Journalism teachers have always taught that "less is more", and in the era of texting, chat and pictures with captions known as memes, this advice has turned to iron code.
What's a verbose linguist to do?!
The answer drags me into an ineffable clarity every day: Hone your newfangled telepathy and forget about it. Plenty of other skills as exhibited stand a little wistfully outdated, such as thoughtful critical analysis itself, and lingo is but a by-product of that.
Less is more, more is less, and there are distinct examples of more truly being more and less less. With that we can turn to what is lost and what is gained. What is lost is the subject of poetry. What is gained is that the negative emotive forces behind so much writing - fiction, poetry, autobiography, history, science - are more tangibly refined, transmutated .... and make the way for heavenly moods beyond art.
In the meantime, write I must. Thank you, Temple Illuminatis, for reading me. The spiritual molecules here that we share have helped teach me about all this since joining ...and now it is 2018!
There you go!
