Ahhh, one of lifes simple peasures, is going for an icecream. We used to do this growing up, and I did it with my own kids too.
Back when I was growing up, the best place to get icecream was Marble Farms in Syracuse.
Why was this 'the' place to go, you might ask? It's because they made all their own icecream on the premisis
Iines would form all through the store, and out the door.
Of course there were other places we went too, Silverbrook
Probably because it was really close, we could get there in about 10 minutes, if that, by car. The ice cream, though not homemade was good and the lines were short. I remember my friends grandma worked there, back in the day.
I remember it was my mom's quest to find a place that made custard(sadly they went out of business) and a place that made tortoni's and spumoni ice cream. I seem to remember they were in Liverpool somewhere.
I do remember wanting a hot fudge sundae most of the time. Mom would always agree to that one.
Face it, you can make them at home, but they always taste better when you go out to get a sundae, with nuts of course. The one thing she would never allow was a banana split. And she was right, a kid wouldn't be able to finish one of those, alone. About 4 years ago, my husband, knowing this story bought one for us to share. Which was nice.....but, here I am at 63 and I still haven't had one (boughten)of my own. I've made them at home though. ;)
**So, what are your 'going for icecream memories?
I eat more custard than ice cream. But my mom swears by Dairy Queen...
I have a great recipe, somewhere for custard. It's been years since I've made ice cream. Gary keeps saying all I need is two trays of ice cubes, and I tell him you pretty much need a bag......so, it's his way of not wanting to be bothered. My parents had an auto icemaker, and they'd save ice for weeks before they made ice cream.
My favorite dessert, ice cream.
Here we can drink every day, all year round.
"Truffled milk" ice cream is the most bought.
How do you make Truffled milk? what is it?
Creamy dough ice cream with pieces of chocolate.
We distinguish the dough ice cream from the stick ice cream.
The chocolate pieces are placed at the end of the process and remain whole.
It's very good. Very tasty.
It is difficult to take (eat) little.
thank you Margarida, it sounds really good.
