Naturally a group such as this one, or of the many other excellent groups on THIS site:)) will also greatly assist one in advancing through one's own abilities.

What is natural is meant to be and so just go with the flow, allow your inner voice to be heard, and never let any of the classic obstacles to a Witch becoming; get in your way!

When I started learning to Know myself, there were so many on the internet who would want to come and interfere with my path.

'Wiccans suck' and 'the Triple Goddess was made up by little old balding men'; blogs on 'The Goddess is the Devil' from so-called Pagans etc etc

There are many  examples of what awaits the Wise from the jealous, malignant, ignorant and patriarchal. It is important to first learn again the skills of grounding and protecting oneself on all levels from these very harmful words, thoughtforms, energies and emotions which are directed at the Good People. For that is the real title of the Witches.

Nothing can defeat the Goddess, and the power of Love, though.

The thing is, the title of Witch was a highly respected and honored one before the advent of the male-dominated religions.

The root word for Witch is widespread amongst many peoples around the world and means, in essence, Wise.

This does not mean that one suddenly transforms into a wise woman(or man) overnight. Actually the Craft of the Wise is about becoming wise, through discipline and many years of study; both theoretical and practical.

And then again it depends- book learning is not everything, and an 'uneducated' Witch can in my experience, teach university graduates a thing or three:)

Also, I find that by reading and studying up on the sacred texts of the Patriarchal religions is extremely informative, and tends to fully explain many things.

As Linda says, one must actually go with the flow, and allow the deep potential within to become; in the right time and right place for the right reasons, naturally. The Threefold Law applies to all, it's just we actually know about it and can thus consciously choose to create and destroy as we wish, on our never ending path of reincarnation; for what we place on the pathway will most certainly return.

Hello Mary, 

the best for me to suggest as a starting point is to perhaps consider joining up at Witch School International.

I can only highly recommend the site, as for any Witch called, the courses on offer can only help and not hinder.

Everyone is unique and so advice is not really appropriate, just know that nothing happens for no reason :)

Britain has quite a few places called Herne Hill or some variant of this. These are usually explained as being named after hern, the Old English name for a Heron.

But did Herons really nest on all those hills?

Or is this name,like that of Herne the Hunter, the horned Phantom of Windsor Forest, derived from a name of the old Horned God?"

The Law of the Power

The Power shall not be used to bring harm, to injure or control others. But if the need rises, the Power shall be used to protect your life or the lives of others.

The Power is used only as need dictates.

The Power can be used for your own gain, as long as by doing so you harm none.

It is unwise to accept money for use of the Power, for it quickly controls its taker. Be not as those of other religions.

Use not the Power for prideful gain, for such cheapens the mysteries of Wicca and magick.

Ever remember that the Power is the sacred gift of the Goddess and God, and should never be misused or abused.

And this is the law of the Power.

The Law

We are of the Old Ways, among those who walk with the Goddess and God and receive Their love.

Keep the Sabbats and Esbats to the best of your abilities, for to do otherwise is to lessen your connection with the Goddess and God.

Harm none. This, the oldest law, is not open to interpretation or change.

Shed not blood in ritual; the Goddess and God need not blood to be duly worshipped.

Those of our ways are kind to all creatures, for hurtful thoughts are quiet draining and aren't worth the loss of energy.

Misery is self-created; so, too, is joy, so create joy and disdain misery and unhappiness. And this is within your power. So harm not.

Teach only what you know, to the best of your ability, to those students who you choose, but teach not to those who would use your instructions for destruction or control. Also, teach not to boost pride, forever remember: She who teaches out of love shall be enfolded in the arms of the Goddess and God.

Ever remember that if you would be of our way, keep the law close to your heart, for it is the nature of the Wicca to keep the Law.

If ever the need arises, any law may be changed or discarded, and new laws written to replace them, so long as the new laws don't break the oldest law of all: Harm None.
