Fire Cider is a, no joke, traditional medicine: it is so tasty and the combination of vinegar, infused with powerful decongestant oomp for sinus relief and spicy circulatory movers, makes this an easy go-to for winter wellness. It works with your natural health processes by stimulating digestion and get you nice and warmed up on harsh days or when you feel a little under the weather.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup Fresh Chopped Organic Ginger Root

1/2 cup Fresh Grated Organic Horseradish Root

½ cup Fresh Grated Daikon Radish

1 Medium Organic Onion (chopped)

10 Cloves of Organic Garlic (crushed or chopped)

2 Organic Habanero or Serrano Peppers (chopped)

Zest and Juice from 1 Organic Lemon

2 Clementines (sliced)

½ cup Pomegranate Seeds or Juice

½ cup Fresh Turmeric (fresh or grated)

1 tbsp Organic Turmeric Powder

1/4 tsp Organic Cayenne Powder

Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (to cover)

Raw Local Honey (to taste)

Directions:

First, prepare your space for making some Fire Cider: which means ventilate or do this outside (the horseradish is a potent sinus cleansing experience).

Gather and place all your roots, fruits and herbs into a Quart Jar.

Use a piece of parchment paper to make sure the vinegar is not touching the lid or a plastic lid.

Shake well

Store in a cool, dark place and shake often

After about 2 weeks then taste your Fire Cider and see if it needs more heat - if so, then add a few more spicy peppers and/or more cayenne.

After about four to six weeks, use a cheesecloth and strain out all the pulp, pouring the vinegar into a clean jar.

Squeeze it to get as much herbal goodness out of it as you can.

Next, add the raw honey, ¼ cup at a time, and stir until incorporated.

Taste and cap.

Enjoy your Fire Cider as a tonic or as a base for salad dressing, you can even try it on your deviled eggs: perfection. Love the idea of this but don't want to take the time to make it? You’re in luck! Check out our Wild Roots Apothecary Oxymel Line: Ruby Fire Oxymel will give you the goodness without the hassle - available online or through our shop in Sperryville.
