Cesair was the leader of the earliest inhabitants of Ireland, the people who settled in Ireland before even the time of the Biblical flood.

Her exploits are recorded in the ancient manuscript 'Lebor Gabala Erenn', also known as the 'Book of Invasions' as it chronicled the arrival of the earliest peoples who inhabited Ireland. First were the people of Cesair, then the people of Partholon, the people of Nemed, the mysterious Fir Bolg, the supernatural Tuatha De Danann, and finally the Milesians who are the Gaels from which the modern people of Ireland are descended.

Cesair (pronounced 'sesser'), was the granddaughter of Noah, who was refused entry onto the Ark by her grandfather and so decided to create three Arks of her own.

When Cesair was but ten years old her foster father, a priest in Egypt, told her to gather together a group and set out in order to escape the flood that was to soon follow. She built a fleet of three ships which she populated with as many capable women as she could find, each possessing a different skill. When her own father Bith was refused entry onto the Ark, along with Fintan Mac Bochra and Ladra, Cesair offered to bring these three men to safety as long as they acknowledged her leadership.

They set sail for Inis Fail (the land of destiny, Ireland), reasoning that as Ireland was as yet unpopulated by man that no sin could have ever been committed there, and so would be safe from the flood sent to cleanse the world of evil.

The journey was perilous and took seven years but finally the people of Cesair arrived in Ireland. It was the year 2361 BC according to 'The Annals of the Four Masters', but only one ship had survived the journey, this containing fifty women and three men.

They decided to divide the women into three groups, each group to take one of the men to populate the land. They also divided up the sheep they had brought with them (the first sheep to come to Ireland). Cesair allocated herself to Fintan's group. Banba, a great warrior woman, was the leader of Ladra's group.

Now this was a huge responsibility for the three male warriors who remained with these women. And for Bith it was too much and he soon succumbed to illness, having been overwhelmed by the responsibility of impregnating sixteen women. He became the first man to be buried in Ireland.

Cesair and Alba divided his women and brought them into their own groups. Ladra, incapable of surviving the now increased greater demands, also died, which left Fintan as the only man on an island of fifty women!

Feeling inadequate in the face of this mammoth task, his reaction was perhaps unsurprising: Fintan fled.

He hid out in a mountain cave and when the flood struck he took the form of a salmon fish, and then a hawk, surviving for over five thousand years.

Cesair was broken-hearted at having been abandoned by her great love and died shortly afterwards. As for the remaining women they were all washed away in the flood, all apart from Banba. It is remembered that Banba and Fintan, the only two to survive, later gave existence to the mysterious and supernatural Formorians.

Cesair was the first inhabitant of Ireland, a fantastic leader able to exert her authority and power over all who followed here. She was unwilling to wait patiently while a wrathful God planned her extermination! She is thought to have been the earliest Irish Goddess, displaying power and sexuality, common traits in Irish Goddesses that were to follow her.

Scathach:Queen of Skye.tag:templeilluminatus.ning.com,2024-01-28:6363372:Topic:36403232024-01-28T14:54:24.878ZGhillie Dhuhttps://templeilluminatus.ning.com/profile/Andrew777

The Celtic people spread from their homeland in what is now Germany across Europe in the first millennium bce. Iron tools and weapons rendered them superior to their neighbors. They were also skilled farmers, road builders, traders and inventors of a fast two-wheeled chariot. They declined in the face of Roman, Germanic and Slavic ascendency by the second century bce.

Here Peter Berresford Ellis, one of Europe’s foremost experts of the Celts, explains how modern research has revealed the amazing similarities between ancient Celt and Vedic culture. The Celt’s priestly caste, the Druids, has become a part of modern folklore. Their identity is claimed by New Age enthusiasts likely to appear at annual solstice gatherings around the ancient megaliths of northwest Europe. While sincerely motivated by a desire to resurrect Europe’s ancient spiritual ways, Ellis says these modern Druids draw more upon fanciful reconstructions of the 18th century than actual scholarship.

The Druids of the ancient Celtic world have a startling kinship with the Brahmins of the Hindu religion and were, indeed, a parallel development from their common Indo-European cultural root which began to branch out probably five thousand years ago. It has been only in recent decades that Celtic scholars have begun to reveal the full extent of the parallels and cognates between ancient Celtic society and Vedic culture.

The Celts were the first civilization north of the European Alps to emerge into recorded history. At the time of their greatest expansion, in the 3rd century bce, the Celts stretched from Ireland in the west, through to the central plain of Turkey in the east; north from Belgium, down to Cadiz in southern Spain and across the Alps into the Po Valley of Italy. They even impinged on areas of Poland and the Ukraine and, if the amazing recent discoveries of mummies in China’s province of Xinjiang are linked with the Tocharian texts, they even moved as far east as the area north of Tibet.

The once great Celtic civilization is today represented only by the modern Irish, Manx and Scots, and the Welsh, Cornish and Bretons. Today on the northwest fringes of Europe cling the survivors of centuries of attempted conquest and “ethnic cleansing” by Rome and its imperial descendants. But of the sixteen million people who make up those populations, only 2.5 million now speak a Celtic language as their mother tongue.

The Druids were not simply a priesthood. They were the intellectual caste of ancient Celtic society, incorporating all the professions: judges, lawyers, medical doctors, ambassadors, historians and so forth, just as does the brahmin caste. In fact, other names designate the specific role of the “priests.” Only Roman and later Christian propaganda turned them into “shamans,” “wizards” and “magicians.” The scholars of the Greek Alexandrian school clearly described them as a parallel caste to the brahmins of Vedic society.

The very name Druid is composed of two Celtic word roots which have parallels in Sanskrit. Indeed, the root vid for knowledge, which also emerges in the Sanskrit word Veda, demonstrates the similarity. The Celtic root dru which means “immersion” also appears in Sanskrit. So a Druid was one “immersed in knowledge.”

Because Ireland was one of the few areas of the Celtic world that was not conquered by Rome and therefore not influenced by Latin culture until the time of its Christianization in the 5th century ce, its ancient Irish culture has retained the most clear and startling parallels to Hindu society.

Professor Calvert Watkins of Harvard, one of the leading linguistic experts in his field, has pointed out that of all the Celtic linguistic remains, Old Irish represents an extraordinarily archaic and conservative tradition within the Indo-European family. Its nominal and verbal systems are a far truer reflection of the hypothesized parent tongue, from which all Indo-European languages developed, than are Classical Greek or Latin. The structure of Old Irish, says Professor Watkins, can be compared only with that of Vedic Sanskrit or Hittite of the Old Kingdom.

The vocabulary is amazingly similar. The following are just a few examples:

Old Irish – arya (freeman),Sanskrit – aire (noble)

Old Irish – naib (good), Sanskrit – noeib (holy)

Old Irish – badhira (deaf), Sanskrit – bodhar (deaf)

Old Irish – names (respect), Sanskrit – nemed (respect)

Old Irish – righ (king), Sanskrit – raja (king)

This applies not only in the field of linguistics but in law and social custom, in mythology, in folk custom and in traditional musical form. The ancient Irish law system, the Laws of the Fénechus, is closely parallel to the Laws of Manu. Many surviving Irish myths, and some Welsh ones, show remarkable resemblances to the themes, stories and even names in the sagas of the Indian Vedas.

Comparisons are almost endless. Among the ancient Celts, Danu was regarded as the “Mother Goddess.” The Irish Gods and Goddesses were the Tuatha De Danaan (“Children of Danu”). Danu was the “divine waters” falling from heaven and nurturing Bíle, the sacred oak from whose acorns their children sprang. Moreover, the waters of Danu went on to create the great Celtic sacred river–Danuvius, today called the Danube. Many European rivers bear the name of Danu–the Rhône (ro-Dhanu, “Great Danu”) and several rivers called Don. Rivers were sacred in the Celtic world, and places where votive offerings were deposited and burials often conducted. The Thames, which flows through London, still bears its Celtic name, from Tamesis, the dark river, which is the same name as Tamesa, a tributary of the Ganges.

Not only is the story of Danu and the Danube a parallel to that of Ganga and the Ganges but a Hindu Danu appears in the Vedic story “The Churning of the Oceans,” a story with parallels in Irish and Welsh mytholgy. Danu in Sanskrit also means “divine waters” and “moisture.”

In ancient Ireland, as in ancient Hindu society, there was a class of poets who acted as charioteers to the warriors They were also their intimates and friends. In Irish sagas these charioteers extolled the prowess of the warriors. The Sanskrit Satapatha Brahmana says that on the evening of the first day of the horse sacrifice (and horse sacrifice was known in ancient Irish kingship rituals, recorded as late as the 12th century) the poets had to chant a praise poem in honor of the king or his warriors, usually extolling their genealogy and deeds.

Such praise poems are found in the Rig Veda and are called narasamsi. The earliest surviving poems in old Irish are also praise poems, called fursundud, which trace back the genealogy of the kings of Ireland to Golamh or Mile Easpain, whose sons landed in Ireland at the end of the second millennium bce. When Amairgen, Golamh’s son, who later traditions hail as the “first Druid,” set foot in Ireland, he cried out an extraordinary incantation that could have come from the Bhagavad Gita, subsuming all things into his being [see sidebar right].

Celtic cosmology is a parallel to Vedic cosmology. Ancient Celtic astrologers used a similar system based on twenty-seven lunar mansions, called nakshatras in Vedic Sanskrit. Like the Hindu Soma, King Ailill of Connacht, Ireland, had a circular palace constructed with twenty-seven windows through which he could gaze on his twenty-seven “star wives.”

There survives the famous first century bce Celtic calendar (the Coligny Calendar) which, as soon as it was first discovered in 1897, was seen to have parallels to Vedic calendrical computations. In the most recent study of it, Dr. Garret Olmsted, an astronomer as well as Celtic scholar, points out the startling fact that while the surviving calendar was manufactured in the first century bce, astronomical calculus shows that it must have been computed in 1100 bce.

One fascinating parallel is that the ancient Irish and Hindus used the name Budh for the planet Mercury. The stem budh appears in all the Celtic languages, as it does in Sanskrit, as meaning “all victorious,” “gift of teaching,” “accomplished,” “enlightened,” “exalted” and so on. The names of the famous Celtic queen Boudicca, of ancient Britain (1st century ce), and of Jim Bowie (1796-1836), of the Texas Alamo fame, contain the same root. Buddha is the past participle of the same Sanskrit word–“one who is enlightened.”

For Celtic scholars, the world of the Druids of reality is far more revealing and exciting, and showing of the amazingly close common bond with its sister Vedic culture, than the inventions of those who have now taken on the mantle of modern “Druids,” even when done so with great sincerity.

If we are all truly wedded to living in harmony with one another, with nature, and seeking to protect endangered species of animal and plant life, let us remember that language and culture can also be in ecological danger. The Celtic languages and cultures today stand on the verge of extinction. That is no natural phenomenon but the result of centuries of politically directed ethnocide. What price a “spiritual awareness” with the ancient Celts when their culture is in the process of being destroyed or reinvented? Far better we seek to understand and preserve intact the Celt’s ancient wisdom. In this, Hindus may prove good allies.

Amairgen was the first Druid to arrive in Ireland. Ellis states, “In this song Amairgen subsumes everything into his own being with a philosophic outlook that parallels the declaration of Krishna in the Hindu Bhagavad-Gita.” It also is quite similar in style and content to the more ancient Sri Rudra chant of the Yajur Veda.

Declaration of Krishna:

~ Peter Berresford Ellis is one of the foremost living authorities on the Celts and author of many books on the subject, including “Celt and Roman,” “Celt and Greek,” “Dictionary of Celtic Mythology” and “Celtic Women.”

Parallels between Celtic and Vedic Cultures:

Like two rivers cascading from the same mist-shrouded mountain, Celtic and early Vedic culture share astonishing similarities. Today, knowledge of the Celt society is rather sparse, and these listed parallels are probably a small percentage of the full extent of common ground.

1) Celtic cosmology recognizes four interrelating worlds of existence: netherworld, earth realm; heavenly realm of dead and demi-gods; white realm of supreme Deities and energy source of stars.
Vedic cosmology perceives three interrelating worlds-physical; astral world of dead and demi-gods; causal universe of Deities, Supreme Being and primal energy; plus a fourth netherworld.

2) Celtic: These worlds further divided into lands and cities occupied by spirits and disincarnate people of similar character. This ring is thought by some to have magical powers, and it originates in Jewish tradition. Nevertheless, the Seal of Solomon can also be found in later Islamic and Western occultism, as both of these adopted it from Jewish tradition. As a symbol, the Seal of Solomon is still in use today, and one of its simplest depictions is either as a pentagram or as a hexagram, the latter being similar to the Star of David.

The Seal from God

One source in which the Seal of Solomon is mentioned is the Testament of Solomon . This is a “Pseudepigraphic treatise on the forms and activities of demons and the charms effective against them.” It has been claimed that this text was written by Solomon himself, and provides account of certain experiences that the king had during the building of the Temple.

Around the beginning of the Testament, the author provides a story to explain how Solomon received his Seal from God. In this story, Solomon notices that the young son of his master workman was growing thinner each day, despite being given double wages and a double supply of food. When the child was questioned, he told the king that a demon had been harassing him every day after sunset,

“I pray thee, O king. Listen to what has befallen all that thy child hath. After we are all released from our work on the Temple of God, after sunset, when I lie down to rest, one of the evil demons comes and takes away from me one half of my pay and one half of my food. Then he also takes hold of my right hand and sucks my thumb. And lo, my soul is oppressed, and so my body waxes thinner every day.”

Solomon then prayed to God for help, who answered the king’s prayers by sending him a magic signet ring which had an engraving of a pentagram on its seal,

“And it came about through my prayer that grace was given to me from the Lord Sabaoth by Michael his archangel. [He brought me] a little ring, having a seal consisting of an engraved stone, and said to me: "Take, O Solomon, king, son of David, the gift which the Lord God has sent thee, the highest Sabaoth. With it thou shalt lock up all demons of the earth, male and female; and with their help thou shalt build up Jerusalem. [But] thou [must] wear this seal of God. And this engraving of the seal of the ring sent thee is a Pentalpha.”

Using this ring, Solomon began to bring demons under his control, beginning with Ornias, the demon who had been tormenting the son of Solomon’s master workman. By questioning the demons whom he summoned, Solomon was able to learn their names, how they persecuted human beings, and how they could be countered. Additionally, the king was able to make these demons work for him. For example, Solomon commanded the demon Asmodeus to help with the construction the Temple,

Once the construction of the Temple was finished, Solomon had the demons imprisoned in bottles. These bottles were said to have been buried under the monument that the demons helped build. In one story, the demons were released when Nebuchadnezzar captured Jerusalem. When the Temple was destroyed, the Babylonians found the bottles buried by Solomon. Thinking that they contained gold, the soldiers opened the bottles, thus releasing the demons back into world.

Symbolic Value

Another story, found in the famous One Thousand and One Nights , tells of a fisherman who found one of Solomon’s trapped demons (referred to as a genie in the tale). This was a small copper vessel which had a leaden seal on it. This seal, which is the Seal of Solomon, is described as having “the great name of God engrave on it”.

<img alt="The "Seal of Solomon" in the 17th-century grimoire The Lesser Key of Solomon. " class="media-image cboxElement" height="608" width="610" src="https://www.ancient-origins.net/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/Seal-of-Solomon.jpg?itok=HM7h4OuW"/>

Apart from such purported mystical qualities, the Seal of Solomon possesses symbolic values as well. For example, the base of the seal is shown to touch the ground, whilst its tip reaches the heavens, thus symbolizing a harmony of opposites. An example of this harmony can be seen in the statement that the Seal of Solomon “symbolizes the link between science, beauty and metaphysics, with elements of medicine and magic, astronomy and astrology”.

The Votadini seemed to have been singled out, occupying a unique if not bizarre position with the Romans. They apparently welcomed the Roman invaders, who seem to have returned the favour. Indeed, the Romans apparently never really “invaded” the Votadini at all. If anything, they left the tribe largely the way it was. Even more bizarre: the so-called Traprain treasure, discovered on Traprain Law, the “capital” of the Votadini, consists of a hoard of Roman silverware. Archaeologists accept that the Romans paid the Votadini. Why? The situation south of the Firth of Forth, on the Eastern side of Scotland, was complex. The Votadini, or to give them back their own name, the Gododdin, ruled the Lothians and the coastline as far south as Berwick-upon-Tweed, where the river Tweed made for a natural border. Inland lived the Selgovae tribe. Driving from the Lothians to Melrose, the A68 follows the Roman road running North. Along the river Tweed lay Trimontium and the Eildon Hills. It is this river that continues eastward, before reaching the North Sea at Berwick-upon-Tweed. The Borders, by its name, is a border area, between Scotland and England; the Tweed is in both Scotland and England.

Want to know your future? Try my free online Rune Readings!

Though Traprain Law is the most famous hill fort of the Gododdin, there was another one, to the south of their territory, relatively close to the Eildon Hills, where there was a Selgovae hill fort. The Gododdin’s hill fort was located on Yeavering Bell, near the confluence of the rivers Glen and Till. All three hill forts are remarkable for their size: they are gigantic compared to other hill forts in the area, underlining their importance.

Yeavering Bell is the largest hill fort in Northumberland, enclosing some 5.2 hectares. Unlike Traprain Law or the Eildon Hills, Yeavering Bell does not stick out from its surroundings. The site is remote, the road at its foot barely used. Climbing to 1,182 feet, it is far higher than the other hill forts and from its summit, it offers the same spectacular views of the surroundings, in this case the Northumberland hills. It summit is a broad double peaked bulk, which dominates the north Cheviot foothills. Like Traprain Law and the Eildon Hills, it was formed in the Devonian period, some 350 million years ago in the violent volcanic eruptions which created the entire Cheviot range. While it is important to note that its position might seem out of the way, even a modern traveller realises it is far closer to everything than its remote aspect would at first suggest. As archaeologist Clive Waddington summarised, the Milfield basin forms the largest physically contained alluvial flood basin in Northumberland. It also straddles two key communication routes running north-south and east-west with the entrance to Glendale forming the junction of these two axes. Immediately overlooking this naturally defined cross-roads is the most prominent hill of the northern Cheviot rim: Yeavering Bell. Is it possible that Yeavering Bell had sacred origins? The name is P-Celtic, being originally Ad Gefrin, which translates as Goat Hill. We know that the Gyre Carling was associated with goats, and as she was linked with primeval hills, are we confronted here with another primeval hill? Yeavering Bell There is archaeological evidence as well. Ad Gefrin, in the valley, began as a Neolithic cremation cemetery. The Coupland henge was orientated towards the twin peaks of the Bell; there are two henges in the Milfield basin, the crop marks of which can still be seen; along the banks of the river Glen is a standing stone, known as the Battle Stone; the eastern peak has a modern walkers’ cairn on top, but there was originally a Neolithic burial cairn on this site. This is all evidence that the area was a sacred landscape, with the Bell as its focus.

It is its twin-peaked shape that probably made it a likely candidate as a sacred hill. Such twin peaked hills are known to have been identified as sacred; it resembles other “breast shaped hills” such as the “Paps of Jura” and the Devil’s Gap. Furthermore, even though Yeavering Bell is not a “lone hill”, it does stand apart from the other Cheviot Hills. When viewed from the lower lying ground of the basin, it stands out most markedly against the southern horizon. Therefore, positioned at a key communication junction, and in the lee of the most prominent hilltop, Old Yeavering (Gefrin) clearly occupies a rather special place in the dramatic landscape of the Milfield basin. When I was preparing a field trip to Yeavering Bell, I had to locate it precisely on the map. At the same time, I wanted to map its relationship with the other two “capitals” in the region, Traprain Law and Eildon Hill. I literally drew lines on a map and it was to my utmost surprise that the angle between the line running from Eildon Hill to Traprain Law and Eildon Hill to Yeavering Bell was a perfect 90 degrees. I was so struck by this, that I drew it again, this time on another map, with a different scale.

Of course, plotting such items on maps is bound to contain some error, but even if it varies between 87 or 93 degrees, the discovery – I felt – was stunning. There are many hills, but these three hills were described as special in the literature, specifically because of their gigantic hill forts on top. Furthermore, they were all important at the same time, from the Neolithic well into the Iron Age. Two were operated by the same tribe, and the third, Eildon Hill, was the capital of the neighbouring tribe, the Selgovae.

The next question on my mind was: was this “triangle” the reason why these three natural hills, enigmatic hills at that, had been chosen as sacred hills? Such discoveries are fraught with problems. Yes, it is a coincidence, and the question is whether our forefathers were aware of its “oddity” or whether we, 20th century educated modern men, see “things” that only 20th century educated modern men would see. Furthermore, the picture is complicated by the fact that when people have reported such potential discoveries in the past thirty years, the question on the observer’s mind may well be whether or not it involved extraterrestrial involvement, for we all “know” the Gododdin were stupid and could not have known many of the things that we know. How could the Gododdin have known about trigonometry? ET is phoned to solve the problem.

Though I have no theoretical objections to extraterrestrial suggestions, I do tend to think that the presentation of an enigma, or something that needs explaining, needs to be explained in terrestrial terms, rather than immediately turn to the “deus ex machina”, i.e. parading ET or Atlanteans. It is, I feel, an easy answer to difficult questions and rather than explain things, it calls more questions into existence. Why would aliens or Atlanteans be interested in telling the locals to create a triangle of hill forts? It would definitely not help aliens, and though it would be nice of our Atlantean forefathers to leave such a legacy, they could have done better things with their time, I feel. But let’s not run away too quickly. First of all, the question needs to be asked whether it was a coincidence. The answer seems to be no. It is a fact the Celtic tribes held these three hill-tops sacred and constructed defences on them. When you map those in the landscape, and you discover that lines between them form a perfect 90-degree triangle, it is hard to believe that this is chance or coincidence. Furthermore, the “triangle” is not just some random drawing on a landscape. The Traprain Law-Eildon Hill line formed the major axis of their territory, largely marking the border between the Selgovae and the Gododdin. Furthermore, the Eildon Hill-Yeavering Bell line formed the “first line of defence” against any invader from the south. Yeavering Bell was the southernmost fort of the Gododdin, and like Eildon Hill, it was built to ward off invaders from the south.

All three mark important points in the landscape: we have just observed the “crossroads” visible from Yeavering Bell; Trimontium shows the importance of the main road running north; from Traprain Law, you have a clear view of the coastline to the north, as well as the A1, which sits on top of a Roman road.

The Traprain Law-Yeavering Bell line seemed to be redundant, but in fact, it is not. The three sides describe an area contained within the triangle, which could be seen as “sacred space”. In pre-Celtic times, it might have been further evidence of “sacred landscape design”, marking out a sacred area belonging to a tribe. Thus the Traprain Law-Yeavering Bell “frontier” might mark the eastern border of their territory, even though I would argue that this was an artificial substitute for the natural border of the shore.

But the line was not redundant. The A1 always kept just outside this line and, most obviously, is literally within hundreds of yards north of Traprain Law. As such, it seemed that the A1 was deliberately located to remain outside the area enclosed by this triangle. Coincidence? Perhaps, but again, I think not. Traprain Law As mentioned, the A1 generally follows Roman roads, which in their turn normally followed existing prehistoric tracks. What was remarkable was that Dere Street, the A68, did enter the sacred territory, though only “just”; largely the A1 and the A68 reinforced the “Gododdin Triangle”, to give it a name. The area between both roads was largely the area described by the “Gododdin Triangle”. It overlaps with the area known to have been the Gododdin territory.

Coincidence or not? It is a fact that the ninety-degree angle is there; the question is whether our ancestors knew about it or not. Though they did not have space photography at their disposal, it is possible that in prehistoric times, when the Megalithic People mapped the sacred landscape, they did possess skills to measure the land. The question of whether they knew the properties of right-angled triangles is also important. Thom, in his analysis of stone circles and other megalithic monuments, stated that certain designs, specifically ellipses, flattened circles and egg-shaped circles, were constructed by using field geometry and surveying techniques, including the knowledge of right-angled triangles. Though there is an obvious difference in scale between working with such triangles over a few metres and over dozens of miles, there is also a commonality: stone circles defined a sacred space; from all accounts, it is clear that the Gododdin territory was equally considered to be as sacred space. Could it be that in the latter’s definition, a triangle – a triangulation – incorporating the main and highest peaks of the region was used?

Britons and Gauls settled in the northwestern corner of present-day France, the region known today as Brittany. The Celtic tradition survived in the region as it was geographically isolated from the rest of France, and many festivals and events can trace their origins to Celtic times.

Many of the French “Bretons” also wear traditional Celtic hats called coiffes (which means “hats of lace”), and roughly one-quarter of the region’s residents speak Breton, a Celtic language similar to Welsh.

Although Caesar’s invasion of Britain was unsuccessful, the Romans eventually mounted a successful attack against the Britons following Caesar’s murder in the first century A.D. This incursion effectively pushed the Britons on the island west to Wales and Cornwall and north to Scotland.

In fact, the Romans built Hadrian’s Wall (remnants of which still stand today) near what is now the border between England and Scotland, in 120 A.D. The wall was designed to protect the conquering Roman settlers from the Celts who had fled north.

Celtic Languages

In Wales, called Cymru by the Celts, the native tongue—Welsh—is a Celtic language, and it is still widely spoken in the region. In Cornwall (the westernmost county in England, and near Wales), some (although very few) speak Cornish, which is similar to Welsh and Breton.

And, in Scotland, the Celtic language Scots Gaelic is still spoken, although by a minority, and the local affiliate of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is known as BBC Alba, the Celtic name for the region.
Draconic Meaningtag:templeilluminatus.ning.com,2020-05-18:6363372:Topic:35201642020-05-18T05:10:16.177ZMystic Wolfhttps://templeilluminatus.ning.com/profile/DonPerndergast

Draconic Meaning
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox/FMfcgxwDqxSvzQBPhbHZcDJCTXdJmbbX

The word “draconic” means: related to or suggestive of dragons. Those who practice this path work with dragons and their energies. They believe in Dragon Guardians and Guides that aid in their magical workings, as well as teaching and advising. This is not limited to magical workings but extends into their everyday lives.

The earliest recorded dragons are from Sumeria and China; both lands have stories of dragons that date back to around 5,000 BCE. Indeed, the Chinese believe that they were the descendants of dragons. Japan also has early tales of dragons but most of those relate dragons to natural disasters. Both Chinese and Japanese dragons could transform themselves into human form.

Egyptian dragons appear around 3,000 - 2,000 BCE and for the most part, Egyptians saw dragons as a sign of evil. This is because Apep was a dragon and Apep's greatest desire was to overthrow Ra. However, Ra also had a guardian dragon - Mehen - who protected the Boat of the Sun. Babylonian myths of dragons also appeared around 2,000 BCE, the most famous being the Epic of Gilgamesh.

Around 250 CE the Aztecs began worshipping Quetzalcoatl, a feathered serpent god. He was also known as Kulkulkau, Ehecatl, and the Lord of the Dawn. It is said that Quetzalcoatl left when he could not get the Aztecs to change their ways. The Aztecs also had other dragons, Coatlicue a hydra with two dragon heads, and a skirt of snakes who was the symbol of nature. There were also Xiuhcoatle, small fire-serpents who aided Huitzilopochtli.

So, what is the Draconic path? It teaches you to work in harmony with dragons and with draconic energies, how to befriend draconic entities, and how to blend this with your current way of worship. You don't have to change your path but you do have to be willing to adapt it in order to work with dragons. Dragons become more than just 'co-magicians’; they are valuable working partners that should be treated as equals.

There is, of course, more to it than that and it will be covered on the other pages in this section.

Draconic Moon (Phases

The Moons Influence

An important consideration, some say the most important, when determining the best time for magickal working is the Moon or Lunar Phases. The Lunar Phases are on a 28-day cycle, going from New Moon to Full Moon and back to New Moon again. Some modern practitioners operate strictly according to astronomical calculations, timing their workings to the last second. Some prefer to go by simple observation, which might be a more traditional method. But it might be best to use a combination of both, using an astrological calendar for the basic idea when things are going on and by simple observation of the Lunar Phases.

WAXING MOON

The Waxing Moon is the period from the New Moon to the Full Moon, which lasts about eleven days. It begins at the first visible crescent and ends when the Moon is Full.

This is considered the ideal time for magick geared towards drawing things to you, for increasing of things, and growth of things, the best time to bring things you have been working on into full blossom. Time to do healings, blessings, and consecration of tools, except for the Athame.

WANING MOON

The Waning Moon is the period of time from Full Moon to New Moon, which lasts about 11 days. It begins just after the Full Moon until the last visible crescent disappears becoming the New Moon. This is the time for study, meditation, and decreasing magick, to remove unwanted influences and energies, to break bad habits, to end harmful relationships and to reconcile with the past. It is a time of endings and to bring things to a conclusion. This is the time to consecrate your Athame.

FULL MOON

A 3-day period when 100% of the Moon is appears fully visible. The 3 days is the day before and the day after astronomical full and the day of astronomical full. This is

when the Moon is at its full strength, the apex of her power. This is the time of the strongest work. It is the perfect time to do spells for fertility or those that will help increase psychic abilities.

NEW/DARK MOON

Some practitioners don’t deal with or even mention the period of the New/Dark Moon. This is when there is no visible sign of the Moon in the sky, which is a 3-day period between the Waning and the Waxing of the Moon. This is when the energies of the Moon are at its weakest, traditionally a time of little to no magickal workings are done. Depending on if you want to work with the New Moon energies or the Dark Moon energies will determine what type of work you would do. If you work with the New Moon energies you will do workings to bring about new things into your life. If you work with the Dark Moon energies should do workings for discovering or rediscovering yourself.

Other kinds of Earth Dragons are Stone Dragons, Nature Dragons, Mountain Dragons, and Forest Dragons.

Chaos Dragons
These dragons don't have a ruler, their color is pure black, and their homes are in Elemental Chaos. These dragons are always dark colors that blend into blackness, often it will look like they have stars caught in their scales. Their bodies are heavy and huge; in fact, they tend to be the largest of all dragons. They have wide, wedge-shaped heads and their long tails often are barbed or spiked. Chaos dragons have huge wings that often blend into the night sky and may be hard to make out; they are masters of camouflage in spite of their large bulk and are rarely seen if they don't wish it.

These dragons are not evil or malicious, they work with us and their magick is often incomprehensible to us and they go beyond our limited view of happenings. Because of this their acts may seem cruel, but they are working for our greater good. These dragons are pure representations of chaos and we are to call on them when we realize that not every problem or situation can be resolved with order and reasoning. When working with these dragons they will go straight to the source of your problem or question and force you to confront it. This can be rather uncomfortable for us as we will need to deal with hidden aspects of ourselves that we may not be ready to face, so be sure that you are prepared to accept the consequences of invoking a chaos dragon. Chaos Dragons do not act as Guardians nor Guides.

Chaos dragon magic is mainly concerned with the re-creation of lives, relationships, and careers. You can employ them to help break through barriers, with changing luck, and in bringing about vast changes.
You can work with them to explore past lives and their magick is particularly powerful aids in divination.

Their magick is also used to confine anything that will hinder you in forwarding growth and movement if you invoke this aspect of them be prepared to have everything that is holding you back leave your life whether you want it gone or not. This is the type of dragon that we work with when we talk about 'riding the dragon’; eventually, during this ritual, we will have to confront our worst enemy ~ ourselves... Chaos Dragons can also be heralds warning of catastrophe, to ignore what they have to say may bring about destruction in our lives.

Dragon Deities:
Dragon God Gneicht;
Gneicht is the ruler of the Night... of doorways (both opening and closing them)
As a guide his visit speaks of opportunities, both taken and missed, depending on the type of message he brings you...

Morthan (moor'-z'dan)
Dragon Goddess of bountiful harvests of all kinds; Mother aspect of Dragon kind. Nurturing, Protective, and Generous...
Call on Morthan when in need of emotional support or financial assistance.

Veaug (vog)
Dragon God of obscurity and that which is hidden; does not like assisting in hiding actions or objects. This dragon is adept at finding things from the Ancients that have been lost in obscurity (old tomes, amulets, magickal items) His assistance can further the summoners knowledge greatly, but he is easily angered, be sure that the item you seek is worth his time before calling upon him...

Luqueas (luk-wee-ass, long U, long E)
Dragon trickster God; take great care when inviting His presence. He is a joker, a wild card. His action is not always in the best interest of the summoner. He is like a politician, he can talk circles around most people & beings, but his words are not always truthful. He can be a strong ally... If you are careful.

Tysteal (tiss'-dell)
Dragon shepherd Goddess; guardian of the meek; a dragon person's first line of defense.
Call upon Tysteal when in need of Protection.

Mordak (moo-ór-dak)
Dragon God of war, vengeance, and retributions of all kinds; make dead certain that you are within your magickal rights before calling Him down, as he is not amused by a fallacious summons.

Davliteau (dav-lí-too)
Dragon God of conjured entities; very helpful in ridding one's self of "sent" conjurations and the like; benevolent to the core; very helpful and willing attendant being, though He has little power in other areas. He acts as a protector from other Beings or Dragons who are sent to harass or harm you. He can be called upon when you are having trouble controlling one of the lesser Beings.

Ouida (o-weed'-a, long O, soft a)
Dragon Goddess of guidance.
Call upon Ouida when you are uncertain of your Path if you are unsure of which life-choice to make. She can help with decisions about finances, marriage, carrier choices, etc.
She is one who stands in the Doorway of Time, Looking both ways at once.

Solange (so-londg')
Dragon deity of healing. Though Dragons rarely become involved in human affairs, Solange cares about those who care for others. He will lend a healing touch to any beneficial healing spell, but there is a price for His assistance. He requires the planting of fruit trees (three at the least and 9 at the most) for his services. He will also attend to your herb garden and bless it with His dragon power.

Ryusan (rí-u-san, long I, long U)
Translates literally to "my dragon." Ryusan, of the three-headed Japanese variety, is best at consoling and nurturing a hurt spirit, whether it be in a host body or not. Ryusan is an expert at guiding spirits on to their next journey. Ryusan can contact those who have passed on. He is a Guardian of the Veil and stands between our realm and the realm beyond. This is the Dragon you would call upon with assistance in Divination.

Water Dragons
Water dragons are ruled by Naelyon (pronounced nail-yawn), their Elemental color is pure blue, dark blue, blue-green, and turquoise.
They live in cold and moist areas. Water dragons have a very soothing influence and are drawn by strong emotions but will not contact anyone who lets their emotions constantly run away with them. A room may feel a few degrees cooler when water dragons visit or you may notice an increase in the humidity. These dragons are long and serpentine and rarely have legs or wings. Their scales will have a silvery or shimmery hue to them and they tend to have a feathery fringe around their mouths. Many times, they appear looking like Oriental dragons and their eyes may have a glowing quality to them. Water dragons govern the Western quarter of the Circle and Western associations may be applied to these dragons.

Positive associations are calm water, compassion, peacefulness, forgiveness, love, intuition, calmness, peace of mind, and fluidity.
Negative associations for these dragons are floods, storms, laziness, indifference, instability, lack of emotional control, insecurity, and overwhelming grief.

The magic of these dragons is generally used for dealing with emotions, either calming them or stirring them up. You can also use their energy to help with movement or to help keep things fluid and open. You can call on these great dragons to help open up your psychic centers and lend their aid to your divination skills. Water dragons are also useful for calmness in all situations and on all levels when you have to deal with anything that will tax your emotions you should ask water dragons to lend their aid.
Other types of Water Dragons are Ice Dragons, Mist Dragons, and Rain Dragons.

Earth Dragons
These dragons are ruled by Grael (pronounced grail), their elemental color is pure green, every shade of Brown and Black.
Their homes are in cold and dry places. Earth dragons are very quiet beings, they will observe from a distance until they are ready to approach you. Once you have befriended an Earth Dragon, they are very straight forward and will be blunt and honest with you but are very loving and nurturing. They tend to have a ridge of sharp scales down their necks and back, their body scales are often very reminiscent of armor. Of all the dragons, these are the ones that like treasure and in order to build a strong relationship you should keep a jar or dish full of coins.

The Earth Dragon’s bodies tend to be very heavy and most of them have four legs, and their wingspan is enormous.
Earth dragons govern the Northern Quarter of the Circle and Northern associations may be applied to them.

Positive associations for earth dragons are respect, endurance, strength, responsibility, stability, prosperity, thoroughness, and having a purpose in life.
Negative associations are rigidity, unwillingness to change, stubbornness, and lack of consciousness, vacillation, and weakness.

Earth Dragon magick is a good form building long-lasting foundations, for helping to complete long-range goals, and for invoking stability into your life.
Draconian Wicca...
Draconian lore and practice are rarely found in any of the published books on magick. (There are a few very notable exceptions, like D. J. Conway's 'Dancing with Dragons')

Draconian magic is, by definition, magick that is fueled by the symbolism and energies of Dragons.

While not actually defined as a Tradition of Wicca, Draconian Magick shares many of its defining elements. It has a code of honor just like a more Traditional Wicca Path, which is perhaps a little stricter than the Wiccan Rede, however. Draconian Magick has always been passed down from teacher to student, perhaps that is one reason there is so little information available.

Dragon Magick is not for everyone. Those that choose to practice it must be self-disciplined individuals who are serious about changing things in their lives and the world around them. They must be willing to have beings be brutally honest with them and be willing to turn that same honesty upon yourself. Working with dragons is a hard path, but ultimately rewarding. The journey of rediscovering the true essence of Dragon Magick can be an uncomfortable experience for some people, being forced to examine aspects of their inner-selves that they would rather not acknowledge. But self-knowledge and self-integration are the true keys to magickal wisdom and power... Opening yourself to acceptance of your true self is a task that few of us have the courage to face, and yet it is an important step to undertake if true power is to be achieved in any magickal Tradition.

For most practitioners of magick, Dragons represent Wisdom and Balance. But for those who are practitioners of Draconian Magick, Dragons are seen as Deities and held in the highest regards. No other Deities are held higher. While Dragons are revered in most Traditions of Paganism or Wicca, they are not thought of in the form of Deities.
When holding a Ritual which includes Dragons, or is a Dragon Ritual, it is important to understand that in Draconian beliefs, the Dragon is held in the All-High or exalted position. Placing another Deity in a position higher than that of the Dragon is an insult to the Dragon.
Draconian Magick is unequivocally a school of the Left-Hand Path.

That is to say, it is a school that teaches the immortalization and deification of the individual psyche, as opposed to the Right-Hand Path which seeks to submerge that psyche within a sense of universal oneness...I believe that many Wiccans and Pagans today tend to shy away from anything Dark, there are allot of Wiccans out there who claim to practice only 'white' magick, And, while most Wiccans/Pagans do not use the statement "I walk a Right-Hand Path" They do. But, to me at least, this creates an imbalance. There cannot be Light without Dark. There is a certain degree of Darkness within us all. You cannot be in Balance if you deny one side of your nature. Many Wiccans/Pagans automatically assume a Dark Witch performs magick that is wrong, negative, or even evil. This is simply not true.

The left-hand path is about the elevation and centrality of the self as well as the rejection of religious authority and societal taboos. The left-hand path focuses on the strength and will of the practitioner, downplaying the need for intercession by any high power (although they may believe a higher power exists).

<VS>

The right-hand path concentrates on the symbols of goodness, of the Light of the Divine, the connection of self with the Divine, and the purification of self in order to reconnect with the Divine. Many right-hand followers believe that there is a Divine power that holds sway over the universe and through prayer and worship that Divinity will help to better their lives. The vast majority of religions are considered part of the right-hand path, from Christianity to Wicca.

I believe in Balance. In all things, there should be a Balance. There is a Darkness in us all. I do not deny the Darkness, I embrace it. Does this make me evil? I don't believe so, because I Balance it with Light... There is a Light within us all as well...

I don't rely on ANY religion to dictate my Morals, my sense of Right or Wrong, I Rely on Myself.
Self-responsibility is also seen as of utmost importance when working with Dragons. You must be able to view your actions objectively...and accept the consequences of those actions, whether the outcome is positive or negative.

Draconian Magick is unequivocally a school of the Left-Hand Path

I believe in Balance. In all things, there should be a Balance. In my Spiritual Path, I strive for Balance. There is a Darkness in us all. I do not deny the Darkness, I embrace it. Does this make me evil? I don't believe so, because I Balance it with Light... There is a Light within us all as well.

Dragons are warriors for light (lightworkers). They are a collective of souls who service the light. They can infuse their souls into bodies that are not a dragon (human for example). In this way, they can work for light and efficiently bring about changes. This is one thing that makes them invaluable in Healing Ceremonies. Some call any magickal practice with Dragons is to “Dance with Dragons”, but they can be more than just a dance partner. As teachers of ancient knowledge, their grasp of it is deep and profound. Their ability to help in divination is astonishing and quite accurate. As protectors during rituals and everyday life, there are no equals. And if a Dragon chooses to take you under their wings you will have the opportunity of learning knowledge and evolving your magickal ability to a degree which few have known.

During meditative channeling, Dragons usually appear to people like themselves. There are those times when they appear as winged humans, or something else, but for the most part, you see them as they appear as they would be in their own realm.
Dragons are a part of the Fae Realm. When the Fae drew back from humankind and sealed themselves from our sight, the Dragons became the Gatekeepers to that realm. Guarding forever the passage from our realm to theirs. Which is one reason it is so hard to gain access to the Faerie Realm? Most people who are aware of the Fae Realm already know that the Fae are able to enter our realm at will, humans, however, must first gain access past these mighty Guardians. A Dragon can look into the soul of a human and gauge the enlightenment that the human has gained. This is one reason that the practitioner of Dragon Magick must strive for enlightenment.

The Goddess & God:
The Dragon is the combined powers of the God and the Goddess. The Dragon is invoked or evoked during Sabbats and in times when great magic is needed.

Red Goddess Dragon:
The Goddess is the female half of the 'Divine Being'. She also has had many faces and many names. Wiccans, Druids, and the coven all respect the Maiden, Mother, and Crone aspect of the Goddess shown in the entire universe.
The Dragon Goddess always appears as a Red Dragon. The Red Goddess Dragon is effectively the Goddess of the Dragons and very, very few know her actual name. She represents all of the blessed races and has a counterpart for each.

The God Dragon:
God is the male half of the 'Divine Being'. He has many faces and has known many names. To Wiccans, he is known as the Horned God, the Sun God, and many more.
The Draconian God is not just Father, he is Mate, Consort, Lover, Friend, Brother, Hunter, Husband, Law-giver, and Partner.

Dragon Guardians and Guides:
Dragons are famous for their fiercely protective nature. Though most myths portray Dragons as protectors of great treasures, they have been known to be protectors of people too.
The Dragon serves as a Powerful Guardian and Guide. Once you discover your Guardian Dragon/Dragon Guide you should encourage communication, and acknowledge your Dragon's presence as often as possible, the same as you would with an Animal Spirit Guide or even a Guardian Angel. You will need to let you Guardian Dragon/Dragon Guide know that you are now open and willing to listen to any guidance, advice, or teaching they wish to impart to you.
One way to do this is to meditate and concentrate upon your Guardian/Guide. Light candles and incense for them, and leave offerings for them upon your altar.

Designing a special altar just for your Guardian/Guide is a good idea, a place where you can concentrate your energies towards the Guardian.
Many magick practitioners will surround themselves with imagery of their Guardian/Guide, immersing themselves externally in the energies of the Guardian/Guide. This will help you to draw the Guardian/Guide to you and will assist you in achieving your connection.

As with any Guardian/Guide, finding your Guardian Dragon/Dragon Guide is not the problem. Most likely they are already around you, and in fact, may have attempted contact with you in the past. This happens with many different types of Guardians and Guides; we fail to recognize the messages that they are sending us. If this is the case, contact should be easy to obtain once you have let the Dragon know you are ready & willing to connect with them.

One thing you must remember though is when you do feel a dragon in your house it does not mean that it's "your “Dragon. Sometimes it can take years for a Dragon to decide to be someone's Guardian/Guide, so just because there is one in your house or one that's been following you for years unless he/she tells you otherwise, don't jump to conclusions and think that you have a Guardian Dragon or a Dragon Guide, it could be there for reasons of its own... Sometimes though, a person can live their entire lives with a Guardian Dragon/Dragon Guide and never know it.

Elemental Dragons:
Air Dragons
These great dragons are ruled by the Sairys (pronounced Sair-iss), their Elemental color is pure yellow, light blue, silver, white and gray...
Where the inhabit is often warm and moist. Air dragons often have a very peaceful nature and they like to share what they know; in fact, they feel that all knowledge is worth having. As their name suggests, they control the winds and can manipulate air with amazing dexterity. They can even remove all air from an area creating a vacuum that is next to impossible to fill. These dragons are often long and slender, some have gauzy wings and their scales often have a feather-like quality and may have actual feathers around their heads, necks, and paws. They govern the Eastern quarter of the Circle and you can apply Eastern associations to these dragons.
Positive associations of these dragons are new beginnings, the Spring, breath, optimism, joy, intelligence, mental quickness, and renewal.
Negative associations of air dragons are frivolity, gossip, fickleness, inattention, stagnation, bragging, and forgetfulness.

The magick that these dragons’ control is often used to control the weather, as one would expect. They are also useful in spells that blow away the old and are excellent in protection rituals as well as magick that works for mental flexibility and openness to new ideas. Teachers and students both will find a wealth of information with these dragons as they can teach us how to better impart our wisdom as well as sharpening our minds so that we can learn better.
Other forms of dragons that fall under this category are Lightening Dragons, Storm Dragons, Wind Dragons, and Weather Dragons.

Fire Dragons
The Ruler of these dragons is Fafnir (pronounced faf-near), their Elemental color is pure red, amber, red-orange, and all shades of flames.
They tend to live in warm and dry areas. These dragons have a fiery disposition but can be very gentle and understanding, it is also true that they can be unpredictable and difficult to work with until they get to know you. Once you gain a fire dragon's loyalty, they are unwavering and powerful friends. Their bodies are often thick and heavy with long snake-like necks and tails. They often have wicked-looking horns on their head and their mere presence can make a room warmer. Fire dragons are fierce protectors and are often heralded by their loud roar. They govern the Southern Quarter of the circle and Southern correspondences can be applied to fire dragons.

Positive association for fire dragons are summer, the sun, blood, any kind of helpful fire, enthusiasm, activity, change, passion, courage, daring, will power, and leadership.
Negative associations for these dragons are hate, jealousy, fear, anger, war, ego, conflicts, and irritability.

The magick of fire dragons is often used for personal purification on any level, for energy or courage, and for the stamina needed to pursue your dreams and finish important projects. You can also use their potent magick to help remove barriers, but once they are set on a course, they are very difficult to halt and will go through or over anything or anyone to achieve their goal. If you don't have a good working relationship with these dragons and you employ them they can turn your spell into something destructive that will 'burn' through all obstacles and leave ruin in their place.
Other forms of Fire Dragons are Steam Dragons, Heat Dragons, Lava Dragons, and Desert Dragons.
