The holidays of Good Friday and Passover are about sacrifice. Christians believe that Jesus sacrificed his life for the good of others, and they commemorate that on Good Friday. Passover is a commemoration of the time when the Jewish people marked their doorposts with the blood of a sacrificial lamb, sparing them from the Angel of Death. Most magical traditions today donandrsquo;t demand sacrifice, but making a small sacrifice can be powerful magic. For this spell you will need a small bit of food or drink that you truly enjoy. (The leftovers you werenandrsquo;t going to eat donandrsquo;t count!) Once youandrsquo;ve picked out your food or drink, take it outside to a secluded spot where you can leave it on the ground undisturbed. (Bushes work great for this!)Before sharing your sacrifice, thank any higher powers (deities, ancestors, spirits, fey, the Earth/ natural world) you work with for the blessings in your life. Ask for nothing in return. Simply leave your offering as a sign of thanks. Reciprocity is real, and the powers you serve will give blessings to you in return.
The season of spring has arrived! In my state of Colorado, March is one of the snowiest months, so we get excited thinking about the planting of gardens and flowers. You may live in a climate where you can already sow seeds in the ground. If so, lucky you! Either way, you can use this spell to bless your seeds as the physical manifestation of things youandrsquo;d like to see blossom into reality. For this spell you will need a packet of seeds. Hold some seeds in your hand and say:Little seeds you may be.You hold the essence of life to be.May you blossom by the sun.May you thrive in the moonlight,Little seeds grow into bigthings, by day and by night! Now follow the directions for planting the seeds. Some seeds need to be soaked overnight, and some can be planted directly in the ground after the last frost.
For this spell youandrsquo;ll need a magnet of any kind. Holding the magnet in both hands, close your eyes and visualize a door. This door opens to the flow of money, mediated by the highest good. In your mindandrsquo;s eye, open the door and feel the multidirectional flow of money moving through and around you. Soak in this energy and move it down and out through your hands, charging the magnet. Continue until the magnet feels fully saturated.Place the magnet somewhere visible, and every time it catches your eye, tap into that feeling of the flow of money. As this magnet draws the energy of money to you, allow yourself to be inspired to take tangible actions. For instance, perhaps your intuition urges you to apply for a new job or start listing your artwork online. Be on the lookout for little (and big!) nudges that help you welcome more money into your life.
Use this spell to create a physical path when weeds or grass need to be removed, as well as a metaphorical path when current obstacles are blocking your progress.Cut out enough pieces of cardboard to cover the areas you want to convert into a path. If you donandrsquo;t have a yard or garden where you need to create a path, you can adapt the spell by using small flat stones instead of cardboard, arranging them on top of the soil surrounding an indoor potted plant.Using a washable marker or pencil, draw a symbol or write a word on each stone or piece of cardboard to represent a blockage or obstacle you wish to remove. Place the cardboard or stones with the blank side facing upward and the symbols or words facedown. Think about the words or symbols that represent your obstacles being enveloped in darkness, facing the ground and blocked from any light. If youandrsquo;re using cardboard, weigh it down so it wonandrsquo;t blow away, and leave it in place until the vegetation beneath dies away, making it easy to prepare the ground for your new pathway. Dispose of the cardboard or add it to the compost as you say:The weeds are gone! The path is made!If youandrsquo;re using the stones and potted plant substitution, wait until youandrsquo;ve fully cleared the obstacles, then remove the stones, wash off any remaining markings, and return them to the earth away from your property.
Traditional astrologers feel that doing magick during an eclipse is inauspicious. In magickal workings, eclipse energy can come across as confusing. It can be harder to navigate the waters of an eclipse over those of other full moons. The belief is that the eclipse energy is inconsistent and magick worked during these moments is unreliable. However, self-reflection is a good thing during a lunar eclipse. By using the energy of the darkness to go within and take stock, you can connect with pieces of your life that you might have been ignoring, avoiding, or putting off. Itandrsquo;s not necessarily a good time to take action on these things, but it is a good time to take stock.During the eclipse, take out your journal and write this:So far, this year has been ______.Write until you feel complete. Then write this:Lately, I have been feeling ______.Write until you feel complete. When you are finished, set your journal aside. The next day, take out your journal and read over what you wrote. Notice anything interesting or important that you feel you need to pay attention to.
