Three of Swords / 6 of Cups

"When you're parents make you feel inferior...it hurts !"

Ever felt like you're always under your parents thumb...especially around the holidays? Oh, I'm not speaking about giving in on where to have the holiday dinner...no ! I'm talking about being scrutinized for every move you make...that whatever you think is right...never is in their eyes. If you say something needs three, they say it needs four. When you make a choice, it's never the right one for them. And when you think for yourself...well...that's just blasphemy !

We pulled this duo for us this Christmas Eve. We've been quarreling with my in-laws about a few issues right before the holidays, and it seems to have spilled into this day of "family togetherness". I thought nothing of the 3 of Swords being drawn because Angie and I knew there was going to be broken hearts this year...but I was a little surprised at the 6 of cups (Memories or feelings of childhood). The two were drawn from my "generic and homemade" playing card deck, which after I pulled them, were replaced with the two drawings on the internet that I felt had a vibration for me. These two qualified perfectly.

The 6 of Cups here shows a giant monster (with no arms) towering over a little girl. The symbolism is supposed to show that the monster, although has no arms in which to grab the girl physically, can still deliver a great scare to the little girl, who seems afraid and motionless from fear. The monster here is our in-laws. By belittling Angie and making her sad and afraid with old childhood methods of control, they can insure she will give in to their demands and go along with anything they say...just like in the past when she was under their roof as a child. But something is different this time ! 

Even though the "mental swords" seem to want to pierce Angie emotionally....as they always have in the past...this time she has come prepared with a set of chain-mail armor covering her heart...and a "false caring" heart as a decoy ! By forming her hands into the shape of a "heart", she has drawn their mental abuse attacks away from her "real" heart and out into thin air where they belong...meaningless and empty...hurting no one !

Angie has grown strong over the years just being together and learning to stand up for ones' self for what one believes in...even when it comes to her parents and their heartless threats of control. She has become for the first time in her life... free from their antics and charm...and I for one am so proud of her ! It is the one birthday present she has given herself on Dec 24th that will keep on giving...the right to choose for herself as the adult she is...not the child they still think they see her as !

If you've ever felt trapped this way by your family or relatives...made to feel guilty for choosing to "choose" anything, then you understand the milestone here. If you are one of the ones still battling this type of war, may we suggest one thing. Take the advise from our foxy soldier here...

...release their emotional hold on you by removing your heart on the matter...
